Seung Jun’s Ph.D. Defense

On April 10, 2025, Dr. Seung Jun Choi successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled


“Urban Planning AI in the Loop: Case Studies of Public EV Charger Placement in Transportation Electrification Planning.”

Conducted over five years at the Urban Information Lab (UIL), Dr. Choi’s research explored the integration of artificial intelligence into urban planning workflows.

His work focused particularly on the challenges of equitable and efficient public EV infrastructure, presenting innovative AI-driven approaches to charger placement in the context of transportation electrification.
