UT President’s Award for Global Learning

- The Sustainable and Resilient Smart City in Japan - 

Director of the Urban Information Lab, Prof. Junfeng Jiao, along with Prof. Ming Zhang, Prof. Junko Hatanaka, and Seung Jun Choi, explored Japan.

Prof. Jiao’s team, representing the Asian Pacific region, is leading the UT Presidential Award for Global Learning.

Their goal is to learn about smart city technology and share knowledge from UT Austin and the Urban Information Lab.

They successfully visited major cities in Japan, including Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Sapporo, Hakodate, Sendai, and Koriyama. They also collaborated with research institutions such as Nagoya University, Kyoto University, Osaka University, Hokkaido University, Tsukuba University, and the AiCT Center. 

They successfully built networks and collaboration opportunities with major research institutions in Japan. The Urban Information Lab would like to thank all the hosts from each university once again.
